Coming soon: Tuesdays with Jay No. 31: Signaling Silence

M.Q. Barber's oh-so-fancy workspace: one laptop, a handful of Post-It notes, a pad of blank notes and a pencil, and printouts of notes for the chapter in the works. Oh, and caffeine. That's a must.
Writing and revising a new novel involves bringing together a lot of notes I’ve jotted in various places, printing out some sections and scribbling new revisions on those pages, and meshing it all into a coherent chapter on the laptop.

2020 is going to be a big year. It’ll have a lot of hard work at the beginning, but all of that effort will be going toward making things run more smoothly afterward.

That’s basically where Jay is in Tuesdays with Jay No. 31: Signaling Silence — in the middle of the tough stuff. If you’ve read Crossing the Lines (Neighborly Affection #2), then you know the Friday night when everything goes wrong for the trio. This Jay story is different from the rest, because instead of focusing primarily on his Tuesday lunch with Alice, Jay wanted to share what each day of the week after that night was like for him and for Henry. So Signaling Silence is his record of the week without Alice.

This one was difficult to write. It makes my heart hurt to put Henry and Jay through this pain. But there’s hope, too, and we all know how things ultimately turn out for the trio — so when you finish reading Signaling Silence, if your heart is hurting, turn to Chapter 9 in Crossing the Lines and remind yourself of what this week leads to.

You might also want to set aside a little time, because Signaling Silence is a quadruple-length Jay tale. If you’re a newsletter subscriber, look for it in your inbox on Tuesday, January 21.

This edition of the newsletter will be special for another reason, too — I’ll be giving subscribers a peek at my plans for 2020, including the re-release of the existing books and some new things on the horizon. That’s right, you heard me: the newsletter will have actual news in it! 😉

To enjoy all of the Tuesdays with Jay companion stories in the series and stay up-to-date about new book releases, make sure you’re signed up for the quarterly newsletter. The newsletter comes out in January, April, July, and October.

To sign up for the newsletter and receive new installments of Tuesdays with Jay, enter your email address below and click “subscribe.” You’ll receive a confirmation email. (It’ll show up within a few minutes, so if you don’t see it, check your spam filter.) Make sure you confirm your subscription so you don’t miss out on Jay’s adventures!
