Coming soon: Tuesdays with Jay No. 30: Submissive Signaling

A cornfield under a cloudy sky at the beginning of fall.
Summer gives way to fall in my neighborhood. I like to walk down to the cornfield in the mornings and see what the clouds say.

Fall is my favorite season. The crisp, cooling air under blanketing clouds; the leaves changing their shades as each day passes; the mugs of hot chocolate and apple cider around a roaring bonfire: I try my hardest to fill up on them all so the joy will last me the rest of the year.

And, of course, fall is when my writing group holds its annual retreat. This year, I spent a lot of time with Henry, Alice, and Jay. They chattered about their latest adventures, and I took copious notes. Some of those will show up in upcoming Tuesdays with Jay installments; the rest are part of the trio’s central story, which is still growing.

In Tuesdays with Jay No. 30: Submissive Signaling, Jay is seeing the signs of change in his relationship with Henry and Alice. The trio is on the verge of a rough patch, though none of them knows it yet.

Submissive Signaling takes place the Tuesday before a real cluster of a night for the trio in Chapter 8 of Crossing the Lines (Neighborly Affection #2). The double-length story will arrive in newsletter subscribers’ inboxes on Tuesday, October 15.
