One wild, unexpected weekend and a Neighborly Affection update

We made Jay the spokesman? But no one will read the words. They'll be looking at his shaggy hair and his sexy abs.

Thanks, Jay. I’ll take it from here.

Wow. You all shifted my world on Friday, and the aftershocks are rumbling through Monday, too. You propelled Playing the Game (Neighborly Affection #1)  to No. 13 in Amazon’s Kindle Store over the weekend. I couldn’t have imagined that in my wildest dreams.

And then you went back for seconds faster than Jay on waffle day, driving Crossing the Lines (Neighborly Affection #2) and Healing the Wounds (Neighborly Affection #3) to Earth-shaking rankings, too.

Massive thanks go out to all of you who have let Henry, Alice, and Jay into your lives for a few hours. I hope you’ve found them to be kindred spirits.

I’m guessing most of you have noticed that Healing the Wounds will be out in a week — on June 2 — so here’s a quick update on three other Neighborly Affection series-related things:

How to get free flash fiction

The monthly author newsletter includes free, original flash fiction from Jay’s point of view. Tuesdays with Jay stories fill in some of the time in-between Alice’s nights with the guys in Playing the Game and Crossing the Lines. You can sign up at the bottom of the page with just an email address, and you’ll never hear from me more than once a month.

If you’ve just signed up and you want a copy of Tuesdays with Jay #1: Rush Job, which went out to subscribers last month, please email me at mqb@mqbarber.com with “Tuesdays with Jay request” in the subject line and I’ll send a repeat of the earlier newsletter out to you.

Three-Way Tie available again

Three-WayTie_cover_px250As my editor and some fellow Lyrical Press authors have been reminding me for months, the Neighborly Affection short story Three-Way Tie hasn’t been properly available since the First Frost anthology went off the market on January 1.

So with copious amounts of help from author Joanne Wadsworth, this weekend I finally learned how to make the magic happen. I’m starting with baby steps, which means the story will only be available on Kindle for at least the first 90 days, but look for Three-Way Tie to show up on Amazon on Tuesday, May 27.

Guy time for Henry and Jay

Farther out, the next full-length novel on the horizon is Becoming His Master (Neighborly Affection #4). Henry demanded the chance to share how he fell in love with Jay, so this book takes us back five years and explores the beginning of their relationship.

My editor and I are hard at work polishing the manuscript. If we get it right, you’ll love getting inside Henry’s head as much as Alice does. Becoming His Master is tentatively scheduled for release in March 2015.

Questions? Just ask.

I think that’s everything, but this weekend has me so gobsmacked I might’ve missed something glaringly obvious in my stupor. If there’s anything you want an answer to, just leave a comment and I’ll do my best to be more coherent. 😉
