Henry, Alice, and Jay pick their favorite Super Bowl ads

Watching the Super Bowl for the commercials, I discovered just how much the Neighborly Affection characters have taken over my brain. Did you see the commercial for the new peanut butter cup style Butterfingers?

Just in case, here it is:

So naturally, I turn to my husband and say, “Look, it’s an MMF threesome like Henry, Jay, and Alice!”

That, of course, led to a discussion of which Super Bowl ads the Neighborly Affection triad would name as their favorites. And the winners are:

Alice: Goldie Blox, obviously. Engineering toys for girls? I am so there. Have you seen the stats for girls going into STEM fields? I need more women in my office.

Henry: I did rather enjoy the Jaguar advertisement. Quite stylish. While I hardly feel that an attention to detail, the use of good diction and an appreciation for elegance are villainous traits, Alice and Jay have been known to call me evil on occasion.

Jay: Did you see the puppy wooing the horse with cuteness and energetic antics? Did you see how the horse would never, ever let the puppy be taken away from him, and they got to stay together forever and ever? I mean — uh — you know, cold beer. That’s what game day’s all about.

Bonus: And a pick from your child-of-the-80s author, because nobody hit it so on the nose as Radio Shack. Way to take a long-running joke reputation and turn it around.

What were your favorite Super Bowl ads this year?

  1. I saw some of the commercials, but wasn’t able to actually HEAR them (the perils of watching the game at Buffalo Wild Wings), so thanks for sharing! I think I like the Jaguar one the best. I wondered what those actors were selling! 🙂

    • I think Loki could sell me anything and I’d buy it. He’s such a silver-tongued rapscallion.

Although I’d have to save for a hell of a long time to afford a Jaguar, LOL.
